
Executive Board Profile
President - Kelly-Ann Vassell
Kelly-Ann Vassell has been an active MetroBoard member since relocating to Chicago in 2008. She served as the 2009-10 Community Service Co-Chair and the 2010-11 Vice President. She has also served as the 2010 and 2011 lead for the MetroBoard Health Fair.
Kelly-Ann holds a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University and a Master of Education from Ohio University. Ms. Vassell works as a Academic Skills Specialist at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine Urban Health Pro-gram. She has abilities in forging strategic partnerships, grant writing, budget management, and event coordination.
During 2011-2012, Ms. Vassell will focus on Fund-raising Diversification, Partnership Expansion and Membership Development.
Vice President - Jennelle Cray
Jennelle Cray holds a Bachelor of Science in Textile Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is an Import Specialist with The Department of Homeland Security, United States Customs and Border Protection.
Her MetroBoard journey began in 2009 as a member of the Community Service Committee. In 2010 she served as Membership Co-Chair. This year she has continued her journey on the executive board as Vice President. She believes in the mission and vision of the MetroBoard, and is looking forward to being a part of redefining the Movement for her generation. Ms. Cray is a native of Buffalo, NY.
Recording Secretary - Eileen Williamson
Eileen Williamson is an experienced professional with education and train-ing in the areas of human resource management, training & career development, recruitment & selection, leadership, and organizational behavior. She joined the Executive Board be-cause she feels a strong connection with those who work tirelessly to make a difference in the community. She is excited to be a part of an organization where people share motivation and enthusiasm for being involved in service and professional development. She served as the 2010-11 Parliamentarian, and was the 2009-10 Member of the Year.
Treasurer - Stacy Summers
Stacy joined the executive board to lend her skills to a service oriented organization. Participating in and leading service projects allowed her to see first-hand the MetroBoard’s need for funding and proper budgeting. She hopes to work with our fundraising committee to see that all of our monetary obstacles are alleviated and that our new financial goals are attained. Stacy works as a Plant Comptroller with Pactiv.
Financial Secretary - Terence Henderson
Terence Henderson is a highly analytical, detail-oriented account manager with a proven ability in utilizing data to target appropriate customers to grow business. Henderson has a track record of drawing conclusions, themes, and trends from data analysis and communicating results to influence decisions at the highest level. He is quick learner with a rep-utation for achieving results and being customer focused. He served as the 2010-11 Community Service Co-Chair and 2009 Teen Summit Lead, and was the 2010-11 Executive Board Member of the Year.
Corresponding Secretary - Melanie Rogers
Melanie Rogers has a proven record of reliability and responsibility. She knows how to remain calm and profes-sional throughout critical incidents. She has strong analytical skills, and is capable of assessing conditions and implementing appropriate intervention. She is resourceful problem solver capable of implementing solutions to complex problems. Prior to joining the Executive Board, Melanie was an active member of the Community Service Committee and an experienced service project Lead.
Parliamentarian - Jameika Sampson
Jameika Sampson, MPH, MBA is a public health professional with experience in strategic planning, capacity-building, community assessment, and public health program planning and evaluation. Her personal and professional mission is to reduce health disparities through community empowerment. Ms. Sampson joined the MetroBoard in order to network with like-minded individuals with the purpose of improving social and economic conditions within the black community. As parliamentarian, she hopes to help maintain order within meetings and uphold the by-laws so the MetroBoard can be as effective as possible in meeting its mission
Community Service Chairpersons - Steven Hatchett and Katrese Minor
Steven has been a member of Metroboard for a little over a year but has managed to lead, start, and cultivate/grow many community service events in just a short time of service. Professionally, through his many years in secondary education, Steven has created internship programs designed to provide at-risk youth with job shadowing opportunities, started and facilitated student arts in education programs and secured nationally recognized speakers for student motivation and enrichment while being employed by the City Colleges of Chicago and Y.C.C.S a coalition of Alternative Charter Schools in the Chicago land area. He received his M.P.A from Jacksonville State University and his undergraduate degree in Information Systems from Carthage College.
Katrese Minor is a not-for-profit director and fundraiser, and native Michigander. She was first exposed to the Urban League as a child, participating in the NULITES (National Urban League Incen-tives to Excel and Succeed) program. After relocating to Chicago, she gravitated towards the Urban League. Several service projects and dozens of volunteer hours later, she continues her involvement with the MetroBoard as a member of its 2011-12 executive board. During her tenure, she will put her talents to good use by engaging the membership in responsive, mission-driven, and meaning-ful projects.
Membership Chairpersons - Kaye Goulbourne and Rahn-Marie Hall
Kaye Goulbourne is an experienced accountant who joined the executive board as a Membership Co-chair so that she may contribute to the community future by implementing trends and new networking ventures for members. She hopes to keep our members happy, satisfied and educated on this organiza-tion’s values. Prior to joining the Board, Kaye was an active member of the Membership committee.
Rahn-Marie Hall is a retail professional whose strengths include being able to analyze data, come up with sound sales-driving conclusions, and being able to build strong vendor and strategic part-nerships. She hopes to bring a fresh perspective, an objective point of view and an enthusiastic, passionate spirit to the Executive Board. Prior to joining the Board, Rahn-Marie was an active mem-ber of the Community Service and Membership committee.
Fundraising Chairpersons - Tina Gaddy and Alva Winfrey
Tina Gaddy is a career services professional with over 10 years of experience helping people attain employment and self-sufficiency in non-profit, higher education, and private sectors. As a former member of the Urban League of Philadelphia Young Professionals who is new to Chicago, she immediately joined the MetroBoard because of the community service and empowerment initiatives that the Urban League is known for nationally. Since joining one year ago, she says she has been further impressed by the commitment to service that the MetroBoard has demonstrated and she decided to join the Executive Board so that she can give back the best way that she knows how – by sharing her knowledge, skills and expertise with the organization in a capacity that will only allow it to grow further.
Alva Winfrey is an insightful and results-driven community relations professional with an extensive background of part-nering with non-profits to develop and deliver programs that benefit the community. She is devoted to helping the community become a better place to live, work, and play. By volunteering her time to work with the other talented people within the organization, she hopes to bring vision, resources and innovative ideas that will help the organization grow and further push the mission forward.
Personal and Professional Development Chairpersons - LaQuita Malone and Dave Roberson
LaQuita Malone is a native of Dallas, Texas and relocated to Chicago in late 2009. Shortly thereafter, she joined the MetroBoard and has been a very active member; serving on the community service and nominating committees. She is a Public Health Analyst with the Health Resources and Services Admin-istration, an agency of the U.S. Depart-ment of Health and Human Services tasked with the mission of services for people who are uninsured, isolated, or medically vulnerable. Her interest in serving on the executive board lies simply in the desire to work with a great team in moving this legendary organization to greater heights!
Dave Roberson is a marketing professional with account management and special events planning experience. He has an MBA with a marketing concentration from Florida A&M University. He has demonstrated individual and team lead-ership. He has creative and unique promo-tions experience. He has proven results in campaign management and execution.
Public Relations Chairpersons - Elizabeth Okoro and Shona Snowden-Brown
Elizabeth Okoro works collectively with the revenue management, marketing, and sales departments on many forms of marketing material. Her responsibilities are to provide consistent and on time deliverables which can be difficult when working with several departments. Okoro has graphic design skills and is familiar with using the Adobe Creative Suite.
Shona Snowden-Brown is an experi-enced professional with over 13 years in government at the state level. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Illi-nois at Chicago and Master of Arts degree in Organizational Psychology from National Louis University. She is skilled in writing and event planning. She is currently writing her first novel and she frequently performs as a spoken word artist in local events and venues. She joined the Executive Board because she believes in the mission of the organization and she wants to support the body in accomplishing its goals for the future..
