The Community Service Committee is responsible for planning and executing community service projects for membership and the community, and assisting the Chicago Urban League and MetroBoard in achieving its civic goals. Key Signature Projects for the Community Service Committee include, but are not limited to:

  • Teen Build – A day of workshops for high school students focused on emotional well-being and college/life preparation

  • AdoptA-Family – Each year MetroBoard members provide needed items to a Chicago Urban League sponsored family during the Christmas season.

  • Back 2 School Fair – MetroBoard members participate and assist the Chicago Urban League in passing out more than 500 bookbags to students to prepare for the upcoming school year.

  • Bud Billken Parade – A long standing Chicago tradition in which MetroBoard members and guests walk with the Chicago Urban League in the parade to celebrate the start of the new school year.

  • National Day of Service (NDoS) – A national initiative from the National Urban League Young Professionals where chapters collectively participate in a day of service around a theme each year.
