In partnership with the Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League, AIGA Chicago will celebrate Black History Month with a panel discussion featuring local Black creatives. We’ll hear about the panelists’ creative processes, work, challenges, and successes, with a focus on how their creative projects connect with their Black heritage.

Nickecia Alder
Nickecia Alder is the founder of Black Girl Fly Magazine (BGF), a revolutionary Internet platform that serves as a digital home for the authentic experiences of Black women. BGF covers contemporary cultural issues related to Black women to educate, engage, inform, and inspire.

Brandon Breaux
Brandon Breaux is a Chicago-based art director and designer whose work focuses on identity, the subconscious mind, and the fragility of the human psyche. His work includes cover art for Chance the Rapper, artwork for Bucketfeet shoes, and website art direction for musical artists like Leon Bridges and Rachel Platten.

Ashley Bryant
Ashley Bryant is a senior level digital strategist who specializes in developing and executing innovative digital marketing initiatives for global brands and political campaigns. From 2011-2012, Ashley was a state digital director for the Obama for America re-election campaign. She is currently Vice President of Digital & Development at Upshot.

Aymar Jean “AJ” Christian
Aymar Jean “AJ” Christian is an assistant professor of communication studies at Northwestern University and a Peabody Fellow at the Media Center at Peabody. Dr. Christian also leads Open TV (beta), a research project and platform for television by queer, trans, and cis-women and artists of color.

Sam “Trump” Harris
Sam “Trump” Harris is a trumpeter and singer/songwriter based in Chicago. Sam is a member of the hip-hop/jazz/soul band Sidewalk Chalk and also performs solo, with other local groups, and in residencies at local venues.

Autumn Merritt
Believing a brand’s story is its strongest asset, Autumn Merritt is a person that loves connecting consumers to brands in an engaging way. Strategically, she has utilized her marketing and creative expertise to establish Sir & Madame, a small, Chicago based boutique and lifestyle label, as a well recognized and respected international brand.

Antonio Moton
Antonio Moton is a Associate Creative Director at R/GA Chicago. With over twelve years of experience, Antonio’s skill set is nested in traditional design principles with a passion for execution across digital platforms.
