Personal and Professional Development Committee

The Personal and Professional Development Committee (PPD) exists to assist MetroBoard members in achieving career advancement and personal development goals. PPD’s mission is to produce programming which will develop MetroBoard members into well-rounded professionals endowed to function as global leaders.

Some examples of PPD Programming include:

Panelists are invited to come out and speak/answer questions on the highlighted profession to provide insight and inspiration. Past topics included “Empowering the Future of Tech” and “Making Our Mark in Chicago’s Media & Communication Scene” (in partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists).

  • Book Club – A bi-monthly book club which featured books geared towards professional and personal development. Past books include “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, “Speak Like Churchill Stand Like Lincoln”, and “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.

  • Health is Wealth Hump Day Workouts – A series of work outs to help membership focus on health. Workouts included Zumba, Boot Camp and Cycle Therapy.

  • Speech Craft – A mini Toastmasters club where members were afforded the opportunity to develop their public speaking skills.
